“Layering”, 2020, with Kristan Marvel, at L.A. Artcore, Los Angeles
“Layering” was a collaborative and experimental exhibition by Kaman and Kristan Marvell. Kaman exhibited new hand-sewn textile works, dealing with geometric abstraction rather than the imagery of previous work. Marvell previewed his photographs done in the desert night with projected lights, creating enchanting and surreal environments. While their work is quite different from one another’s, they built an installation that combined their mutual interests in color and presentation. Marvell created a gallery where light continuously changed on his sculpture, and Kaman hung and tied fabric that glistened from the ever-changing lights in an installation called “Infinity”. By working together, new ideas and concepts emerged for them both.
